The ATA Carnet is used for the temporary export, temporary import, or transit of goods. It can be used for movements between the EU and non-EU countries, and in the future, it will also apply to goods transported across the tax border from Åland to other EU countries.
The ATA Carnet can replace export and import customs declarations, but it does not substitute for other required documents or permits, such as firearm import licences or health certificates. ATA Carnets are issued by Chambers of Commerce and also serve as a guarantee for any potential customs debt.
For the movement of goods between Åland and other EU countries, the same procedures apply as for trade with non-EU countries.
