The eATA Carnet is the digital version of the traditional paper ATA Carnet, enabling the temporary export and import of goods free of customs duties and taxes.
The digital Carnet makes the process faster and more secure, as all information is transmitted electronically between Chambers of Commerce, customs authorities, and the user.
With the eATA Carnet, the entire export process becomes digital: the application is completed online, approvals and customs endorsements are stored electronically, and all parties can access the information in real time. This reduces errors and paperwork while improving traceability of goods throughout their journey.
The system is based on a standard developed by the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) World Chambers Federation, and its implementation is being rolled out gradually in different countries. The goal is that, in the future, all ATA Carnets can be issued and processed entirely electronically, without paper documents.
Finland will adopt the eATA system in 2026. The new system will provide companies with a faster and more convenient way to manage temporary export procedures — all with just a few clicks.
